Loft Conversion

This customer wished to expand their living space by converting their loft into a spacious guest bedroom with en-suite toilet and shower and a small reception area. Like many London townhouses, there was a lot of attic space to work with but also a number of limitations, not least the angled walls and limited window access. If not carefully designed, many loft conversions can end up looking dark and dingy. Our design challenge was to maximise the amount of light and space in the conversion while reducing the amount of structural work needed.

A combination of white, silver and warm pine flooring accentuated the natural strengths of the room. Use of mirrored doors also extended the perceived space in the room. The ceiling was comparatively low, so we installed warm spotlights in place of hanging lighting. A cosy atmosphere was created by the use of dark wood panelling on the bedside wall and rich purple throws and cushions on the bed itself.

The conversion gave the client the additional space they needed without the expense and lengthy construction time involved with a full house extension.
