Buckle and Vaughan is a delightful, friendly bar and restaurant in London with a great atmosphere, so I was really pleased when I was asked to design their interior. They specialise in tasty, eclectic food and wonderfully colourful cocktails – the perfect place to drop by after work to unwind for an hour or two with friends and colleagues. So I wanted the interiors to be welcoming and unhurried, without any corporate pretensions. The first thing a guest sees when walking through the doors is an inviting beech wood bar crammed with delicious spirits and cocktail ingredients, and the friendly light of dozens of hanging globe light bulbs. Moving into the eating area, the bar has a great open space so I wanted to emphasise the light as much as possible. Long tables with comfy cushioned chairs make the venue perfect for group meetings, while mahogany panelling adds an intimate feel.
